Connecticut has one of the highest rates of breast cancer incidence; but thankfully, a relatively low rate of mortality likely due to increased screening mammograms. It is recommended that women aged 35-39 receive a baseline mammogram.

It is recommended that women age 40+*:

• Practice self-breast awareness by being familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel and report any changes to a healthcare provider right away
• Get an annual breast exam by a health professional
• Receive a mammogram once a year, every year, after turning 40
