Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a non-invasive study using strong magnetic and radio waves (no radiation) to provide clear and detailed diagnostic images of internal body organs and tissues. MRI allows for the evaluation of some body structures that may not be as visible with other diagnostic imaging methods.

All MRI exams must be ordered by a physician or advanced practice provider. The provider who ordered your scan will receive the results, typically within 3 business days.
MRI Exams and Implant Safety
An implant is anything in your body that you were not born with. Many metal implants are compatible with MRI, including most orthopedic implants. Patients with metal implants in the body need to inform the scheduling associate at the time of scheduling. While MRI exams are safe for most patients, always check with your doctor to ensure that your implant is safe for MRI.
3T MRI
Our Bloomfield location features the advanced Siemens Vida 3T MRI. This powerful wide bore magnet enables fast and easy patient positioning, shorter examination times and exceptional quality images. Our 3T scanner is ideal for many different anatomical imaging exams and can comfortably accommodate patients up to 500 pounds.
1.5 Wide-Bore MRI
Our Glastonbury and Rocky Hill offices both feature the new Siemens Altea 1.5 Telsa wide bore scanner. This highly adaptive scanner provides patients up to 550 pounds with fast exam times, excellent image quality, exam versatility and comfort.
Our Enfield office features the Siemens Essenza 1.5 Telsa magnet system. This versatile scanner provides excellent image quality with short exam times, it’s patient-friendly design can accommodate individuals up to 440 pounds.
MRI appointments available at our Avon office are provided by Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, an affiliate of Trinity Health of New England.
Preparation for your exam will be provided at the time of scheduling; you may receive a follow-up call from one of our technologists for more information about any implants you have.
